I wanted to take the time today to give honor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His sacrifices in his life, which ultimately resulted in his untimely death, has made it possible for African-Americans to live as human beings, and not as a second class citizen. Or worse, as an animal. Because African-Americans, such as myself, have always been seen as even lower than an animal simply because of the color of our skin. I also wanted to remind people that the dream continues. We have achieved great things and overcome much, but we still have a long way to go.
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that you all are enjoying your day and that it is blessed and full of joy. I just wanted to take a minute to remind everyone that while it’s nice to get presents and sing songs and stuff ourselves with Christmas goodies, it’s more important to remember why we celebrate Christmas at all.
We celebrate Christmas to celebrate God’s gift to us–Jesus Christ! There is no greater gift than Jesus Christ Himself. It’s not about toys, food, trees, gifts and certainly not about Santa Claus! We are in a time where people are trying their best to remove Jesus Christ from Christmas. People don’t want to say “Merry Christmas” anymore. It’s “Happy Holidays” and some don’t even say that. It’s just not Politically Correct anymore to say “Merry Christmas.” I say forget that! No one will ever get me to remove Jesus Christ from Christmas. It’s all about Him anyway. It’s just not going to happen!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope that your Thanksgiving is fun, beautiful and blessed. Be sure to eat a lot and enjoy time with your family and friends. Don’t forget to thank the Lord for blessing you to see such a beautiful day and have the opportunity to be with those you love. Thank Him for all that He has done for you and how much He has blessed you. We have NOTHING and are NOTHING without God.
Thanksgiving is about so much more than food, turkeys and stuffing ourselves silly. Although one of the best parts about the day is eating all of that delicious food and fellowshipping with the ones we love. It’s about Continue reading →
North Tower Collapse photo taken by the New York City Police Dept Sept 11, 2001
I can’t believe that it’s been 10 years already since the Sept. 11th attack on our country. It feels like it just happened yesterday. That was such a sad and terrifying day. The loss of life was so horrifying and senseless. The terrorist attack on our country, born out of hatred, was so heartless and incomprehensible, and some would say unforgivable.
Look how far God has brought us. At the time no one knew if life would ever be the same. And in some ways it isn’t. The fact that we could be attacked again is still in the minds of the people. Some people still live in fear. Yet, God has protected us from further attack again and again. I am so grateful. Grateful to be alive. Grateful that other attacks have been prevented.

I didn’t know anyone that died that day. But my heart is with those individuals that did and whose hearts are still hurting 10 years later. My heart goes out to those who were attacked and survived and whose lives were never the same like Marcy Borders. Marcy Border (who became known to the world as the “dust lady” and then only 28 years old) had worked at a Bank of America in the North Tower, also known as Tower 1, on the 81st floor of the World Trade Center for only one month.
I just want to take a moment, on the anniversary of the signing on the Declaration of Independence, to wish everyone a beautiful 4th of July and to thank all of the men and women who have fought for us, been maimed and lost limbs for us, and laid down their lives for us. There are not enough words to express the deeply felt gratitude I feel for the sacrifice you have made. I am so incredibly grateful to you for going into the trenches and risking it all so that I can be free. I love you all. God bless you!
Thank you God for all of your blessings God. You are an awesome God and I love you so much. Thank you for the ultimate gift of freedom. Freedom from hell and sin through your Son Jesus Christ. There is no freedom greater than that! Thank you for saving me. You are amazing. I love you!!!
I came across this interview of Danielle Williams through the Passion for Christ Movement blog. This is an incredible testimony that everyone should hear. Share it with everyone you know. Minister Danielle breaks it down and tells you the real deal about the porn industry. It truly is full of evil. The stories of the suffering Continue reading →
It’s been a while since I’ve posted so I wanted to catch up with you all. A lot has been going on in my life so I haven’t had the focus I’ve needed to write here regularly. But I have not abandoned Reflections of a Queen. I have no intention of ever doing that. This is one of my favorite places to be and I love sharing with you.
As you know, 2011 is right around the corner. I hope to do more in the coming year. I have been looking into new template designs so Reflections of a Queen may have a new look in the new year. Maybe even before the new year. Yay!
I want to share some of my fiction and poetry with you so that may be coming in the new year. This blog has taken on a strong devotional focus. There is nothing wrong with that! However, that was never what I wanted it to be. Don’t worry. The devotions are here to stay. It’s obvious to me that writing these has been what God wanted me to do. He wanted me to encourage you all so I won’t get rid of them and stop writing them. I just want you to know that Reflections of a Queen may take on a more fiction minded focus. I am a fiction writer after all! (smile) Whatever God leads me to write about I will write about.
I also intend to focus on some tough subjects. They won’t necessarily be controversial, but I won’t beat around the bush with the truth. You know what I’m saying? It’s good to encourage people. But as believers we must also make sure that our brothers and sisters are not walking in darkness or bondage. Sometimes we need to hear correction. I don’t want to become one of those Christians that’s afraid to tell the truth and be real. That would mean that I fear the people more than I fear God and that is not right. Isaiah 51:7 says that we are not to fear the reproach of men, so I wont. I don’t want to tickle your ears while you’re walking down the wrong path. The Bible tells us in Hosea 4:6 that we are destroyed for lack of knowledge. I don’t want to be a contributor to anyone’s destruction. As God leads to me to share certain things with you I will.
I also intend to allow guest posts in the coming year. In this way you’ll be able to get stories and wisdom from others as well. This is still undecided. I may not do this at all. But it’s been something I’ve been debating. I don’t know if it will work out. I might do it for a month, or a year or not at all. I might like it. I might not. We’ll just have to wait and see. I may even have a special gift for you in the new year as well. So keep your eyes open for that. I think that you will like it and appreciate it.
So I want you to know that I have not forgotten or abandoned my faithful readers. I love you guys!
Life has thrown many things my way this past year that I could not have foreseen. It’s been hard. But I am expecting the new year to be the start of a new beginning. I’m looking forward to the many blessings God has in store for me. I know that it will be beautiful. So hang in there with me. Reflections of a Queen is about to become better than ever!
Merry Christmas to my faithful readers here at Reflections of a Queen. I hope that your Christmas is a beautiful one. Let’s not forget to keep Jesus first as we celebrate His birth. It’s all about Him. Not trees. Not gifts. Not Santa Claus. It’s about celebrating the day that Christ was birthed into this world to one day grow up and become a man who would bring Salvation to the world. All we have Continue reading →
Hello everyone! I have finally fixed the problem with comments. For months people have been unable to leave comments and I could not figure out why. I had sought technical support, but didn’t receive the help that I needed.
I finally decided to take matters into my own hands! Mind you I am not the least bit savvy when it comes to matters like these. But, I sought help outside of my hosting service and found some ideas of what the trouble might be. I tried some things out and realized that it was something very simple.
Needless to say that I am incredibly happy that the problem has been resolved, but agitated that it was something so small that was causing it. If I had even an inkling that it was something so simple I could have fixed this ages ago.
I apologize to all of those who tried to leave comments and could not. The problem has now been resolved. Comment away! 🙂
It’s been brought to my attention that some of you are having trouble leaving comments. I have no idea why, but I hope to have the problem fixed soon. If you would like to leave me a message you can reach me through my Contact form which is located at the top of this blog.
