Called To Controversy by Ruth Rosen Book Review

“Called To Controversy” by Ruth Rosen tells the story of Ruth’s Father Moishe Rosen and the founding on the ministry Jews For Jesus. This Autobiography/Biography tells the story of how Moishe, a Jew, came to know the Lord and how God led Him to spread the Good News to the Jewish people and ultimately created the ministry Jews For Jesus.

I was very much looking forward to reading this book. I’ve known about Jews For Jesus for many years. I’ve even read some of the free ebooks on the site that tell the stories of Jews that came to know Jesus and finally accept that He is indeed the Messiah that they have been looking and waiting for.

Many people don’t believe that Jews need to come to Christ. It’s a common belief that because they Continue reading

Change Your Mind, Change Your Habits

None of us are exempt

We all have bad habits. None of us are exempt. Though we may wish that we were. However there is a way to get rid of them. We must learn to replace our ugly habits with good ones! It sounds easy enough, but it can be hard. Yet, it is required of us all.

More than quirks

When we give our lives to Christ we become new. All of us are told to turn from our sinful ways. A lot of the times we don’t view our bad habits as sin. We usually view them as quirks in our personalities. “That’s just the way I am!” That’s a favorite excuse. But I’ve got a newsflash for you. That’s not just the way you are. There I said it. They are not just quirks in our personalities. Bad habits are sins that need to be shed.

Changing your mind

It is possible for us to get rid of our bad habits. But it’s not easy. It won’t happen overnight. And it starts with your thoughts. Philippians 4:8 tells us

“Finally Continue reading

Evict Unforgiveness From Your Life

I heard a quote once that wasn’t only intriguing but rooted in truth. It said that “Holding a grudge is allowing someone to live rent free in your head.” That is so true. You are giving people room in your life that don’t belong there when you hold grudges. Cut people loose from your life when they don’t belong there. Forgive them and move on. Give the issue to Jesus and give the offender an eviction notice!

I know people who love to hold grudges. It amazes me. And when you call them out on it they get offended. They don’t realize the spiritual harm that they do to themselves. It’s such a Continue reading

When You’ve Done All You Can, STAND!

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” – Ephesians 6:13 KJV

You have all that you need

We have all that we need to stand strong when life gets crazy. God has given us spiritual armor to wear to protect is in spiritual battle. We are to put it on daily so that we are always ready and protected from the wicked plans of the enemy. Are you wearing yours?

“… And having done all, to stand.”

When the battles start we are usually caught off guard. And our first instinct isn’t always to fight but to run. You either go into denial or fear comes and paralyzes you. You want to cry. Or lie down in bed and pull the covers over your head and hope it will all go away. But God said to stand. Don’t run. Don’t hide. Don’t lie down. But Continue reading

Watch How You Walk

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.” Ephesians 5:15 KJV

Circumspect means to be watchful; take heed. To be cautious and prudent. Be watchful on all sides

Life is full of pitfalls. If we are not careful we can end up far from God. Everyday we must choose whether you will live right or not or do right or not. No one else can make the choice for you. You will either honor God this day and everyday or you will not.

To walk circumspectly is to walk in holiness. Foolish men and women don’t know they are headed for destruction. They live according to their flesh with no thought to where their choices will lead them. But as Continue reading

Don Cornelius: You Will Be Missed

Today we have lost and icon and pioneer. Don Cornelius died today from a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head. He was 75 years old. I can’t believe that Don Cornelius is dead. The fact that he left us so tragically makes the loss even worse. I hate knowing that his suffering, whether mental, physical or both, was so great that he felt the need to take his own life; that he didn’t see another way out. It is all so sad.

Don has contributed so much to entertainment, and not only black culture, but pop culture. He opened the door for black artists by giving them a place where they could belong and share their gifts with the world, and he created where young African-Americans could come dance and have a great time. He made being black Continue reading

Every Body Matters by Gary Thomas Book Review

Every Body Matters by Gary Thomas is a book that deals with how our physical health affects our spiritual health. Our bodies are God’s temple, but most don’t treat them as such. We fill ourselves up with junk food, fried foods, sugary drinks, sometimes to the point of becoming overweight or creating health problems. This book is about snapping up to attention and reminding us that these bodies we have don’t belong to us, they belong to God. They are temples for His Holy Spirit and we have an obligation to God to take care of them.

“Christians who don’t take their health seriously don’t take their mission seriously” – Gary Thomas

This book wasn’t written to Continue reading

It’s The Thought That Counts

Have you ever really wanted to help someone financially but you honestly couldn’t? I know in these economic times being able to give when you may be in need yourself is tough. People are dying or becoming homeless and you would love to help out, but there is no way. You may be having a hard time paying all of your bills, keeping food on the table, providing for yourself or your family. And there is just no way you can afford to open your pocket book for another. It’s rough.

I was going through Continue reading
