It’s so easy to get far from God. We allow life to take our attention away from our First Love. We put our careers, marriages, children, entertainment, ambition, relationships and a whole host of other things, into first place.
God speaks to our hearts through the Holy Spirit, but we can know longer hear Him. We’ve allowed life, and sometimes sin, to separate us from God. We stop reading our Bibles. We stop praying. We stop nurturing our relationship with the Lord. Until one day we thirst for Him. Our parched souls need refreshing. But we’re so far removed from God we start to wonder if we’ve strayed so far that we can’t go back.
That’s exactly where Satan wants you to be. He wants you to get as far away from God as possible so that He can move in and wreck you. He starts to whisper in your ear that there is nothing wrong with how you are living. What’s wrong with a little fun? You can always read your Bible later, pray later, worship later. It’s no big deal.
Don’t you believe it. The farther you stray the easier it is to get caught up in the world and sin. The farther you stray the more likely you are to lose your way spiritually and become spiritually blind. Turn back to God. It’s never to late to turn back to Him. It’s never too late to get right. God is waiting for you. He’s waiting for you to repent so that He can forgive you. He’s waiting for you to draw near to Him again. James 4:8 KJV says to “draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh unto you.”
God is waiting for you. He loves you so much. If you have strayed from Him turn back. There is nothing you can do that He won’t forgive, if you’ll just come to Him and ask for His forgiveness.
1 John 1:9 KJV tells us that if we will confess our sins He will forgive us and cleanse us of our unrighteousness.
If you have strayed away, come back to God. If you are hurting or afraid, draw near to God. He will forgive you and comfort you. Don’t be afraid to draw near to Him. He will fill you with His love. He will never abandon you. Come back.
