I am so happy about the safe return of Current TV reporter’s Laura Ling and Euna Lee to the United States from North Korea where they were held prisoner. I can’t even begin to imagine the terror, and deep sadness they must have felt over the fact that they may never come home and see their families again.
Five months is a long time to have your world turned upside down and your future up in the air. “Will we come home?,” they must have asked themselves many times. “Or will we be prisoner’s in a hard labor camp for 12 years for a crime we didn’t commit?”
The fact that they were pawns in North Korea’s hands as Kim Jong Il butted heads with the U.S. over it’s nuclear program surely didn’t help matters. The fact that they were pawns became painfully and undeniably clear, when it was revealed that they would be released if former President Bill Clinton came to retrieve them. This was possibly a twisted effort on Kim Jong Il’s part to garner some positive publicity for himself as well as his country. In my opinion it didn’t work.
No matter now. Euna Lee and Laura Ling are free now. God made a way for them when it looked as if there was no way. I don’t know if they know the Lord or not. That’s something to pray about. But, regardless of who they think saved them, ultimately it was God. Yes, God used Bill Clinton, his wife Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, former Vice-President Al Gore and numerous other background players to bring about their happy return. But, ultimately it was God Himself working through these individuals to bring these young women home. Thank you Lord for such an incredible blessing. You are ALWAYS good and ALWAYS on time!
Lord bless Euna and Laura. May they enjoy long, happy, healthy, fruitful lives. And if they don’t already, may they one day come to know the one who truly set them free.
Lord bless you
