Happy Birthday Michael – Remembering Michael Jackson

I was and still am the biggest Michael Jackson fan of all time. I developed my intense love of music by listening to and studying Michael. My grandmother introduced me to Michael’s music before I was old enough to even speak. I remember many weekends when it was just the two of us together listening to Michael’s Thriller album. It was a happy time.

Eventually I grew up and played his music constantly. I was just in love with all things Michael. My Michael Jackson collection proves that. I don’t have everything. Very few people do. But, I managed to accumulate quite a bit in spite of my family not having much money. I’ve been very blessed.

I have supported Michael always. Through the thick and the thin. I didn’t become a fan of his in his death. I’ve been a fan since Thriller. When people were lying about him I had his back. Like a true fan I defended him.  I prayed for him. (We are to pray for everyone, including celebrities) I knew that Michael was a good man, and that’s what I want to touch on briefly.

Michael was a human being. He was a man that deserved respect, but didn’t always get it. In death people have tried to destroy this man’s memory and deny his contribution to the world of entertainment and the world in general. People have been so unkind to Michael. From so-called friends running him into the ground to his enemies. There are those that wish to paint him as a monster. But, Michael was no monster.

I’m not going to break down all of his career achievements, or where he’s from. This isn’t a biography. You can find that anywhere. I just want to speak of the man I believe he was.

Michael was a man with a big heart. He was sensitive and full of love. He cared about people and did his best to try to change the world and make it a better place. He wanted us to love one another and do good for others. He did his best to change hearts and touch lives through his music. He was a man with a most incredible gift from God who did his best to honor God with it. He appreciated the gift.

He was lost spiritually for a long time, but I am believing that very near the end he came to the Lord. He wasn’t led to him by Andre Crouch and his sister like he should have been. He came to them with all of those questions people ask when they either have Him already and are learning how to walk out there faith, or are looking for Him, and they were unfaithful and did not follow the Great Commission in this instance and witness to Michael. But, when God wants you He will have you, and I believe that Michael has found the peace in Heaven that he was so unable to have here on earth.

Michael was a Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Father and friend. He was loved. He needs to be respected. His family needs to be respected, especially his children. Remember Michael for who he was. NOT for what the media wanted you to believe he was. Remember him for his work, for his heart, and for all the love that was in it. I will always remember Michael. And when I should one day have a family of my own I will sit back with my children liked my Grandmother and I did so long ago and listen to his music. I will tell my children what an incredible man he was, and how God blessed us all to enjoy and be a witness to this most incredible talent.

I love you Michael and I miss you. My heart still aches for you, but I honestly believe that you are home with the Father in Heaven. I will see you again one day. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. I know it came at great personal cost to you. Enjoy the peace I know you now have in Heaven. I will never forget you. I will remember you forever. I will be a fan always. Thank you for the memories.
