A Kingdom Lifestyle
When people look at you and how you live your life do they know what you believe? What you stand for? Is it evident? Is your mouth saying one thing, but your lifestyle another? Are you claiming Christ, but living like a heathen. Do others see Jesus Christ in you?
God told the Israelites not to live life as or worship as the godless people around them. To stay set apart. God knew that the Israelites would lose their way and turn from Him if they weren’t careful and deliberate in how they lived their life. God is telling us to be the same way today because as Christians we have to deal with a lot of the same things. The idols may look different, and may not be made of stone, wood, brass, gold or silver. But an idol is an idol regardless of it’s outward appearance. Today some of the most common idols are money, sex, drugs, celebrities, fame, material possessions, power, stature, and numerous other things. No matter what they look like, they can and often do turn us from Jesus when we aren’t strong in our faith, or we take our eyes off of God. Thereby making us like the thorny ground believer; caught up in the cares, riches and lusts of this world (Mark 4:18-19 KJV)
How we live our lives, our lifestyle, should reflect Christ. Our faith and who we serve should be evident. We don’t have to run around quoting scripture or slapping people upside the head with our Bibles. But when people look at us they should see Jesus.
No one likes to be thought weird or strange. I know I don’t. Yet, that’s exactly how we often appear to the world when living for Jesus, and doing what He says looks different from how the rest of the world lives. But I would rather be thought odd than to be on the wrong side of God. How we live our lives should always be consistent with the faith in Christ that we profess at all times. Even when living a lifestyle of faith in Christ Jesus is hard, and puts us at odds with the world.
“Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images. And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” Exodus 23:24-25 KJV
Lord bless you
