Because I Live, Ye Shall Live Also

It’s terrible when you lose someone you love. There is no pain like it. The loss of those closest to us is always so devastating. The pain feels never ending. You feel like a part of yourself has left and it hurts. Especially when the loss is sudden and tragic. Maybe you’re grieving for yourself. Perhaps God is calling you home and you’re sad and afraid. Death is always hard. It is never easy.

So we grieve over our loss. This is only natural. To grieve is allowed. There is nothing wrong with feeling sorrow. But did you know that as believers in Christ, that when we lose those we love, that our grief is not to be excessive and never ending? And that should you get the negative health report there is still hope? Why? Because of our Heavenly Hope!

1 Thessalonians 4:13 KJV says “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.”

We have Jesus Christ. As believers our hope lies in Him and the sacrifice He made for us. Jesus died for us and rose again. In Revelations 1:18 KJV Jesus Himself tells us “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

In John 14: 19 KJV Jesus also tells us “because I live, ye shall live also.

If you believe in Jesus Christ, if you have given your life to Him and serve Him, you will live again with Christ in Heaven one day. This life is NOT all there is. When this life is over a brand new and more beautiful life begins. These earthly shells we call bodies will turn to dust. But spiritually we shall live forever because our spirits will live. They never die.

Jesus is the Tree of Life. Jesus is the head and root of the tree and believers are the branches. As long as the head of the tree lives, and the roots of the tree live, the branches also live.

In the book of John Chapter 11 we are told about the death and resurrection of Lazarus. Martha and Mary sent a message to Jesus letting Him know that “he whom thou lovest is sick” John 11:3 KJV. When Jesus was told of that He said “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” So instead of leaving right away He stayed where He was for two days before going to Judaea to where Lazarus, Martha and Mary were.

When He arrived Lazarus had been gone already for four days. Martha told Jesus that if Jesus had been there her brother would have lived. Jesus told her that her brother shall rise again. John 11:23 KJV Martha, misunderstanding Jesus, thought He meant in the resurrection of the dead at the last day. But Jesus told her in John 11:25-26 KJV “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

Do you believe it? I do. Martha believed it. “She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.” John 11:27 KJV

Hold on to Jesus. He is our hope. It’s okay to be sad but don’t hold on to your sadness. If your loved one knew the Lord then they are with Him. And one day we will be with Him too and all of those that we have loved and have gone on before us are living with Him now. If it’s almost time for you to go home to Jesus don’t be afraid. He’s waiting for you with open arms ready to lavish you with His love face to face. Be encouraged and comforted by Jesus’ promise to us.

“Because I love, ye shall live also” Jesus tells us. And I know my Savior lives.

God bless you all,

“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. “ 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 KJV
