Thoughts of Peace and Not of Evil

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 KJV


Why is it that when things go wrong one of the first things that people do is blame God? God is not responsible for the ugly things in our lives. God’s thoughts for us are of peace and love, never evil. We are quick to forget that when bad things come our way or we don’t get our way. It is because He loves that we don’t always get our way. God’s plans for us are far greater than our plans for ourselves.

It is because of His love for us that He sent Jesus. Through Jesus we find not only Eternal Life but grace and mercy. Because God loves us so much He not only made a way for us to be free from sin but a way for us to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. God has already brought us all through so much, forgiven us for so much, and blessed us with so much. How can we ever think that God would do us wrong when He sacrificed His own Son to shed His blood for our redemption?

One day this evil world will end. We will be with our Father in Heaven. That’s the greatest and final end. But even now in this world God knows the good He is working out for us in this life. Things will never be perfect on this earth. And He never promised us that this life would be a walk in the park. He did promise to never leave us or forsake us and to give us the strength to endure even the most tragic of circumstances.

God is not evil. He does bring evil upon us. Satan does that. You must trust God and trust that He is working everything out. He knows what the end will be. He knows what you are believing Him for. He knows what you have need of, and He will bless you with what you need in His time. In the end He will give you what you have been believing Him for by faith, if it is His will. Sometimes we don’t get what we ask for, but not because He is evil. But because that’s either not what He wants for us or we have asked for the wrong thing. Trust that God has your best interests at heart. He always does.
